just be careful......I wash mine regularly also, degreaser and hose, but this last time on my 01 hoe I started getting SES light and a code for knock sensors. Turns out GM has a TSB for this and a way to fix it. Kinda sucked having to pull the intake when all I was doing was trying to look pretty!
