Check your odometer before you start, check your odometer after your trip is over, divide your miles traveled by how many gallons you just put in to fill back up.

421 divided by 28 = 15.03 mpg
Sounds about right for that speed.

Fill it all the way up
Trip Odometer to zero
Drive
Fill up completely again
Divide miles driven by the gallons of gas used

I can get 17-18 mpg if I drive around 70 mph, 15-16 if I'm going 75-80 on the interstate. :)

Do you have a TBI or a vortec?

15mpg is about average for a stock TBI or a lifted Vortec with oversized tires at hwy speeds.

A stock suspension Vortec with stock sized tires like Dylan's will do better.

At 65 mph highway steady flat road I get 20.2 mpg with the AC on high with my current mods.
Now I just need exhaust and roller rockers to finish it.

Mine has the Z71 package with 32" tires. I really need a oil change. I usely get 450 miles on a full tank.

If I "old man drive" it I can hit 22. I also have the windows down and no A/C, which let's face it, when it's 100+ degrees out, not worth it. Most of the time, 60 mph, easy on the brakes, coasting, driving like a responsible geriatric (which at 26 is NOT easy) I can hover at 18 - 20 mpg on the highway and usually get between 12-15 mpg in town.
