I've asked you guys in the past about my 13 PPV where i put a new 6.0 driveline in her (your help was fantastic). I also have a stock (except or the throttle body intake tube) 11 PPV.
I wanted to ask. A month or two ago, a woman backed into my passenger front door at Best Buy, and left of course - saw her on the BB cameras. I found a salvage door and replaced it. I did not think to replace the door crash sensor, so I kicked an air bag code. I went to the old door and in my frustration damaged the old sensor by cutting it out. So, I went on eBay and bought an exact same number door sensor and put it in this past weekend. Disconnected both batteries and the code went away and stayed off for a while, but then started coming and going back on intermittently, more on than off now. I went by AutoZone to see if they could clear it They tried,, but it's still on.
I'm not a great electronics or computer guy, but I see a lot of you talking about OBD2 units. What do you guys suggest to get rid of this light? I could buy one of those units if there reasonable and not too difficult to navigate.
Thanks for always being there,
whit

the sensor should not have to be replaced unless it was physically damaged, I suspect the problem is a wiring issue, double check the sensor harness and the door harness where it connects to the body.
otherwise there are a lot of these in the junkyards

Thank you Doubelieve. TBC, I did replace the old sensor with an exact GM numbers matching sensor because I buggered up the old sensor plug hole getting it out of the replaced door. (One caveat, I had to use the connector off of the old door and splice the connector because the prongs were not a match.)
Are you saying that the matching number sensor should not kick a code and that the problem is likely my splice job? BTW, that's crazy that you're knowledgeable enough to catch that without me mentioning it. You guys are really impressive!

you could test the harness with a meter to see if it is loosing connection, I initially thought with key on but being if is the airbag system then that's probably not a good idea
so you'll need to find out which wire is ground and/or where it terminates and then check for continuity while wiggling the harness (key off)
the sensor should read 2.5-3.5 ohms but it may be difficult to get a connection on the pins

also the light will go out on it's own once everything is working right with the (srs) air bag system, it is self checking, even if you clear it, if there is still a fault it will come right back on or in the case of a bad connection as soon as you hit a bump or the wire moves, bam airbag light until a key cycle and rinse and repeat.......
the same goes for abs (anti-lock brakes)
