My driver side door almost doesnt open anymore from the inside because there is so much play in the cable. Is there an adjustment for it if I take off the door panel? I would like to know before I discover that I need a new cable. haha. I swear tomorrow im going to have to roll down the damn window to let myself out

Door Handle Adjustment

I just had to replace the whole handle assembly on my 95 Suburban and have two broken on my 97 Yukon. It actually isn't a cable, it is a metal rod. My guess is that your handle is about to snap and that is why it is so hard to open the door. If interested I can give the info of the person I just bought my handles from. They were about 20 a piece and I bought the bezel that surrounds it as well as they are more than likely going to break when taking them off. It is fairly simple fix, just need a pop rivet gun and a drill and a bit to drill out the handle from the door. Hope this helps.

+1, had the same exact symptoms, and the replacement solved everything.

Get a body panel removal tool. They can be found really cheap & make the job a snap to pop the tabs without breaking them or scratching up the interior paint.

The inside door handles can be found everywhere. Check the local parts store, ebay, or a boneyard.

The real PITA of the job is getting drilling out the rivets from the old handle.

My handle started to pull way back, then it snapped off the day after lol. I don't know about you guys but mine was only held in with one rivet. I just broke it out with a hammer and screwdriver and put a small bolt back in its place with the new handle.

Door Handle Adjustment

I was unaware you could buy them at the parts stores? I paid 52 dollars shipped for two brand new handles and four bezels so I think I did pretty good.

Basically the inside panel.

Again get yourself a body panel removal tool. Also, be careful with the door handle bezel as to not break the tabs.

Ive got the removal tool and the door handle. How long should this take for a person that has never taken the door apart? a few hours?
