2007 Tahoe - 226,000 miles.

I have read that a quick and dirty method of disabling the AFM is unplugging the gray sensor by the brake booster. Is that true and other then the engine light being triggered are there any other downsides to doing this for a couple thousand miles as a test?

I have put 180,000 of the above miles and have experienced most of the issues outlined by others with the AFM.

I would like to test the process to see if my oil consumption improves. It uses about a 1/2 quart in 500-750 miles. If so I will purchase the Range AFM product.

Thanks for any feedback.

Thats what i heard, if you disconnect the brake booster vac sensor itll shut it off. I didnt try it, cause i dont like unplugging stuff and having the eng light on haha. I went the range direction instead. (I have the range device im not using now that i have a tuner and if you do go that route i have it way cheaper then the range site) ;)

Not a good idea, it will trip a code, which in turn will have you running rich, which will give you worse gas mileage. Do it the correct way thru your computer.

And if you have a CEL in many states you won't pass annual inspection.

I would like to think that sensor controls more than Afm function. But if you'd like to be the pioneer in this experiment, I'm sure others would like to know the outcome. If t sets the mil, you can clear it after plugging it back in

Interesting too that I haven't experienced any OnStar interference as Range mentioned in their FAQ. My Range is plugged in 24/7 and I have received two months (March and April) of OnStar diagnostic reports with no mention of anything plugged in to the OBD port. It's a great device.

Is anyone experiencing a battery drain using the device. I read in another thread several user experienced a dead battery and attributed it to leaving the AFM disableer plugged in?

My 2017 Yukon is two months old - Range plugged in 24/7 no battery issues. Car is driven short distances 5 days out of 7.

You already have what is called parasitic discharge on most vehicles and this item ads only very little to it. If driven twice a week you will not notice it, Without it you will have a dead battery if you park and fly for a couple of weeks or so, whether you have it or not. The cure is: if you know it will be unused for an extended time, unplug it, leave it in your glove compt. No I don't have any interest in the company or any connection with it

^^This. Mine is plugged in 24/7. Truck driven daily, but sometimes sits over the weekend. Have not experienced anything negative with it's use on the DIC or otherwise. Ran to Key West last weekend, averaged 20mpg down and back.

Quick and easy, not the cheapest, but great alternative and can unplug at will as needed for warranty or otherwise.

Interesting - what year and model are you driving. As mentioned, mine is a 2017 Yukon Denali purchased 2/22/17. I've had two OnStar reports (March and April) and neither one reported any OBD port interference. Wonder if Range and/or GM changed something. My Range is version 8.1

I purchased one from one of the fellas on the forum a few weeks ago for my 07 and seems to work as billed but noticed a spike in RPM's from 600 to 800-900 for a very moment when slowing to a stop then goes back to 500-600?

Anyone else experience that?

I have gotten a TPS code in the past but it would only be on for a few days and go off but I wasn't having this spike in RPM, its only been after plugging the Range in. The engine light hasn't come on since disabling AFM,

Nothing on my 17 Yukon Denali - rpm's rock solid with AFM disabled. What year, model and engine do you have?
