Occasionally these steps on my 2020 Denali Ultimate will fail to come out when door is opened. Sometimes driver side, sometimes passenger side. Never both sides together. Any ideas on what could cause this? Closing and opening the door typically remedies this.

Do you regularly clean and lube the pivot/hinge points? There are a lot YouTube vids on this. Just checking. If not, it’s worth a shot.

Dealer wouldn't fix mine. They insisted on treating it like a warranty item and they replaced them. Only one side -- the passenger side wasn't working -- and I haven't had a problem since. I wonder though whether they could actually have been serviced. With it being a warranty item, I had to come back again when the parts arrived.

Carfan thanks for your response. I assume it was under the original 60K warranty and not lifetime warranty? (I have 100K miles on my Yuke)
