So I got a weird one I’ve been trying to figure out my courtesy lights only come on once the dome override switch is depressed and the problem is once depressed they wont shut off, all courtesy lights and dome lights also foot well light turn on no issues. Now I’ve replace the head light switch and door jamb switches and still have the same issue looking over a diagram which I’m not to well versed in and tracing the wires I don’t see any problems. Been three months I’ve been trying to figure this out, any ideas?

Please specify your truck and possibly post the circuit diagram you are using. That way everyone is using same and correct data/ description.

I'm a little confused. You say the domelight override pushbutton switch makes the lights come on and they stay on.
GM uses ground to turn on the dome/courtesy lights. The bulbs will have power on the orange wire and the white wire goes to the switches that ground the circuit and turn on the lights. Common problem is the door jamb switches which press into the dash. As the door hinges wear they allow the switch to stay on. The door panel has a plastic push in that contacts the switch and you can pull it out and shim it if necessary.

Sorry for the late reply this is my 1995 Chevy Tahoe 2 door sport ls 5.7tbi.
The photos are when I first bought it the guy before me set the truck up so when you depress the dome light override button you can keep the green led light on even with doors shut and driving, I’m just trying to get it to work as it should out of factory. Also this is the diagram that I am using. I also checked the door jamb switch with a multi meter it’s working as it should.

So to clarify your question, You wish to find a modification made to turn on dash or switch led when not usually commanded?

Sorry im bad at explaining things. Im looking to make the courtesy light work as they should out of factory, when you open the doors they turn on and when shutting the doors they turn off. Im trying to undo what ever the previous owner has done.

According to your post#1 "all courtesy lights and dome lights also foot well light turn on no issues". Well then where is green coming from?
Are there added green LEDs all over?

Two weeks ago, I had either an intermittent parasitic drain or some kind of reverse current. It was killing my battery.

A prior owner had replaced all interior lights with LEDs, and one of them went bad. A return to all OEM lighting fixed it.

Ok so here are some updated photos I replaced all lights with white led lights.
the first photo shows the button pushed in with the doors open showing the switch works to keep all the light off, second photo with all lights on is with the doors shut showing the light don’t shut off with the door jamb switches.

I have the extended rod door jamb switches just in case the switches were getting pushed back like you guys said.

I will try reverting the leds back to the basic bulbs and see what happens.

A bidirectional scanner might show the status of the door switches (commanded vs actual), as well as the status of other lighting.

Do you have a circuit tester, multimeter or test light?

Eman85 Gave great help in post#4

Have you looked for jumper wires around the light switch or near the connector plugins for footwell lights?
Have you tested the switch input/outputs (B,L,M,N,R) for the diagram I posted?

I’m going to pick up a test light tomorrow and test the plug with the diagram you posted
