98 Tahoe 2 door 5.7L 4WD

First off, just had the remote door unlocked removed (long story behind that) and now when I go to unlock my door with my key, I find out that my key only will unlock the rear hatch, it doesn't quite fit all the way in either the driver or passenger side doors. Any idea why, or any clues on what I can use to maybe clean out any built up corrosion?

Also, my HVAC controls aren't lighting up when the headlights are turned on. All my other cluster lights turn on, but not the HVAC controls. If I press the defroster button, the backlight turns on, but the backlight doesn't turn on for the other two buttons (AC and something else) when pressed. Any idea why this is? I just had a bunch of cabling cleaned up, as well as having the stock Viper alarm removed. Wondering if there's any correlation, although it seems weird that the defroster light would still work when pressed.

Last but not least, when I first turn the Tahoe on, the push button autotrac stays lit for 2WD, however after a couple minutes none of them are lit. Putting it in neutral, and pressing 2WD again keeps it lit, but again it goes out after a couple minutes. Any idea why?

as for the lock situation have you ever had to replace the lock itself? if so your origional key will not work but if not i think there is this stuff you can buy that helps clean frozen locks out, and as for the hvac controls take it out and look at the bulbs. the hvac works right?

Thanks for the reply, after googling around I think I try putting some graphite in the keyholes and see if that helps.

Regarding the HVAC, just took it for a night time cruise and saw that half the HVAC is lit up, as well as the autotrac button. Yes the actual controls work, it's just the backlighting that is only half working. I was debating swapping in blue LEDs behind the HVAC, now seems like a good time to do that. I wonder if it's just a loose wire somewhere?
