Well this sucks after buying a 100k vehicle and putting another 12k in it. I too bought diesel to avoid the 6.2 issues.

No issues so far after 1400 miles. Are people taking them in proactively to check?

I'm not. You either have it, or you don't. If you do, it will evidence itself. If you don't, you will have to pay for the evaluation.
I wonder what they would do if you have the problem, but it's still running well?

They still are and nothing is wrong. These problems have existed since the dawn of man.

You guys just dont have very long memories.

Ive been there and done that. Its just part of making things. Shit can go wrong otherwise nothing would come with a warranty

If its out of specification it will throw a code. No way you have an issue without driveability problems or codes. The tolerance is way loose compared to what it needs to be.

Well based on mine and other LM2's... It has been rock solid for 40K+ miles. LZ0 was supposed to be an improvement over LM2 but not with components that are not up to par for the job.


I am at the same mileage you are on my 25. So far so good.... But I'm nervous. I don't have a lot of faith in a dealer fix for this issue or having an engine replacement. Both of them are heavy issues that usually don't turn out well. Fingers crossed that mine is one of the good ones. I count on this vehicle every day and don't have a backup plan......

It's because customers do not have any faith in what they are buying, and the manufacturer is charging entirely too much. I thought I was doing the right thing by going with the Duramax but I'm sick to my stomach now.

Do not try to switch between gas engine oil and diesel formulas with a direct injection system.

Why are you sick? Dude get off the forums. It will do this to every make and every brand. Just enjoy the car. You have warranty.

Ive bought hundreds of cars and every single one is full of forums with tons of issues and I've experienced less than 1%.

I worked for GM during the golden years and I was fixing transmission after transmission all day everyday. Fixing timing chains, lifters. But today those forums are touting how reliable they were. Guess i was dreaming ? Lmao. Bought 3 homes with all the 4l60e and 6l80 rebuilds. With all the 5.3 lifters. With all the 3.6 timing chains.

Yes they will go bad early. Its a mis spec thrust bearing. It wont last being out of tolerance. Its gonna chew up quick. Extra oil changes won't help. You either have a spec part or not. And if not its chewing up quick. Id imagine you make it to 10k miles your safe.

Yeah I bet you hear noises (most may not notice because most people dont pay attention) followed by code....followed by catastrophic failure if you keep ignoring.

First symptom is noise by bell housing. Then code. But for most people the code will be the first indicator.

Im not here to make people feel safe. But as a former gm heavy line tech. A toyota fan (i love reliability). My wife being the primary driver with my kids. Im not worried. Until it shows up if it does. And when it does i will have my friends who still work for gm fix it. And I will continue to love it. Because it's amazing. So amazing that this is the 2nd new one we bought.

Just look at the 6.2 fiasco. This isnt nearly as common. And im looking everyday to change my mind. And havent yet.

Its a metal clang. I promise if its doing it you wont be able to ignore it. Its evident. It sounds like a broken flex plate.

My engine failed at 3250 and has been up at the dealership for 3 weeks. The dealer originally told me they were going to replace an oil pump and turbo I had to get General Motors involved to get them to look at the tsb. They finally measured the crankshaft and determined an I needed a new engine. They ordered me a new one, No eta on part arrival all. I have a case number with GM and hopefully things will get worked out sooner than later. My trim was a Denali I don’t know if certain trims are affected or just build dates.

Or a series of vehicles within a certain month or so of manufacturing range that had defective parts? Or in the big world, is this just something not to worry about until by chance lightning strikes you?

I work In the auto industry and mostly all of the people I have spoken with do not know about this issue. I actually joined this forum because I saw this thread when I was researching the issues my vehicles were having. Without a lot of people knowing it I was thinking that’s a good sign, and take it for what it’s worth it’s Murphys Law for me. I wouldn’t worry about anything until it actually happens.

Still love it and not scared. If it breaks it has a warranty and nothing comes close to size, efficiency, etc. So no replacement id ever consider even crosses my mind.

Yay.

Not worried. Love it. Been getting about 28mpg at 79mph. Love love super cruise. .makes road trips a breeze.

Having oil changed at dealership. Talking to them it sounds like thrust bearing is becoming a big deal, they have two in the shop now with failed bearing. Gm is really becoming a shit show.

Our XL AT4 is at 14k and so far so good. Seems like this is more isolated than a widespread issue.
