Climate control switch

So, my climate control switch box seems to be backwards, I get decent cold air if I press AUTO then change temp, speed, ect but once I press the snowflake button, the cold air goes bye bye. Weird? Supposed to be? ‍ If there a fix?

I’m pretty sure that turns the compressor off. I think it has a slash through the snowflake.
