changing front axle

i have a rubbing noise in my front axle on the right, now i thought it came from were it blots onto the pole that connects to the differential but theres nothing there.
how hard is it to replace the axle? do i need special tools?
ive bought the book and it doesnt really describe much on how to do it. i wish there was service manual that shows more, i could of sworn there was a gm dealer service manual that cost like $120 but i cant seem to find it anymore anywere. if anyone knows anything id love some info thanks!

are you sure its the axle shaft and not the wheel bearing? when I changed out mine, it was 6-15mm bolts that hold the axle assmly to the front diff and it just slide out of the hub. My hub/bearing was so loose that the axle shaft wore down on the teeth so both needed to be replaced. I am not sure if its the same on the 91-99.
