carpet padding vs dynamat

ASpahalt gets hard in 3-6 moths.. at which point it stops working for all intents and purposes. Check the sounddeadenershowoff.com.

It also is neither an absorber nor a barrier... all peel n stick is is mass loading.

Dynamat extreme and other similar formulations operate in 3 ways:

absorbers (buytl)
barriers (rigid aluminum backing)
and mass loading (shifts resonance frequency down)

Leave peel n stick to cheap/temporary roof repairs.

Fyreman: was that stuff aluminum backed and buytl? That might be ok, except I'd exceed 125 in the summer routinely, Even on an 85 degree day interior temps climb to 125 in about 15 minutes.

IF the adhesive releases then you are no longer getting effective massloading and absorbtion, even if the door is holding it in place.
Let us know how it held up over the summer though. Realworld experimentation!

fyreman did you put it on the inside of the door? (outter door shell)

you will notice a big difference. it got rid of some rattles and definitely quiets road noise. its not a miracle product by any means but it does make a big difference...and you cant beat the price
