The phone button and the nav button on my radio are wearing off and I guess wearing is that covered under warranty? Can they replace the buttons or does the whole head unit need to be replaced?
Thanks

The warranty does cover it. Took mine in just before the warranty expired. Although it doesnt last much its peeling off again.

Denali132,

I am sorry to hear that your buttons are wearing. Did you confirm with your dealership if they would replace the button or the whole unit?

Thank you

SBCT,

I am sorry that you are also experiencing this issue. Have you spoken with your dealership about replacing the buttons?

It seems to be common with GM vehicles. I had on 05 CTS V and it did the same thing within 12k along with a bunch of other problems. They said it was not covered by warranty since it had more than 12k. Needless to say I'll buy other brands of cars before I buy another Caddy.

Elizabeth,
They told me the same thing. Said warranty was expired and that I could pay the $1,000's for a whole new unit just to get the paint fixed on the tiny little buttons...

I explained that I thought it was ridiculous that the car was wearing out all over the place at only 40,000 miles. What should I expect out of a $45,000 automobile??MUCH MORE!

My certified pre owned 08 Tahoe is in getting this done now along with a few other misc things(free oil change, Bulb in headlamp replace, Crusie control not functioning which the dealer said is a brake lamp switch to be replaced). All covered under out 1yr/12k certified warranty.:happy160:

And the labor union workers are getting a $7k bonus this year. **** that, spend an extra $10/car to get better coated buttons

EDIT: and a better coating on the rubberized part of the steering wheel... BS!

I called my dealership too about this last night and they want $5-600 to replace the entire panel when in fact only 2 buttons are affected the up and down for the fan control on my 2007 GMC Yukon. Very disappointing, I will live with it but things like this should not happen on $53K vehicles...... Yes mine is a few years old now, but I only have 72K miles on the darn thing!

Same problem on my 07 Tahoe Z71, driver side fan speed control button are doing the same thing. I saw on eBay some replacement stickers that go over the top of it but they wanted $30 or so I think. I can't pay that for little stickers!

Ya I just got a 2007 yukon and the fan stickers are wearing out for me too. Is the only way to repair replacing the entire Climate control unit or are there stickers i can buy?
