Does anyone know the proper way to get all the air out of the coolant system? Someone told me to take the rad cap off and start it, let it warm up allowing all the air to escape. I did this a few times but still seems to have air in the system...

never did my tahoe... but did my camry back in high school and that is the method I used... takes a while to get it all out. The thing has to cycle through several times.
remove cap, pour fluid in and wait... you will visably see the fluid go into the motor, pour more in... repeat
I always try to raise the front end while letting idle. Air goes for highest point. Always worked for me.
K I did the jack up the front method but the coolant didn't seem to go down at all. I will try sunlitcomet's method next time I get a chance. The only reason I suspect air still in the system is because when the truck gets up to operating temperature it will remain that temp and then randomly it will go up to about halfway, stay there for 20 sec and then go back down...How will I know if my reservoir isn't working properly?
