We ordered a 2023 Yukon SLT, Luxury package, with 22" rims on April 15. The ordered was accepted within a few days. Just got an email from the dealership saying it's been built and it's awaiting shipment/delivery. The only bad thing is that they got the wrongs wheels. It was built with 20". How much of a hassle is it to sell OEM wheels on eBay and upgrading with either after market or OEM wheels directly from GMC? I am excited to finally have it built, but also kinda bummed with the wheels.

Right on, those wheels will sell no problem. shipping a hassle IMHO

However. the ride is better on the 20”
A positive to me.

I see 22’s listed for sale every so now and then. no issue if you really want them. also the 22” the 1500 Sierra’s ect have will fit. more choice

Personally, I would avoid 22" wheels. They ride worse, are more susceptible to damage, and cost more to fix and replace. Also, there's far more and cheaper tire options for 20" wheels.

@loveav8 How much were the 22” wheels you had added on the build? If it’s the $3000+ ones u can have your salesman order them through parts on Chevy.com, their 20% off right now and then have them put tires on and sell your 20” wheels.

We went with the 20” wheels because 22’s ride rough. We also got the other 20” polished wheels. The look pretty good.

The dealer pre-order process is literally a joke. I ordered a Yukon at4 4 months ago.... they called telling me to remove max trailering or else it would never get made.... I said ok... then it showed up and they tried to charge me 10k over msrp.... worst part is that was missing air suspension and more.... im convinced nothing is actually custom ordered. they just match you with something being built already. shade factor is strong at GMC. sorry but the whole pre order process just sucks.

Agreed. My first order was accepted and then dealer "lost it" and it never arrived. Sevind order was accepted however dealer forgot to order the captain seats in the second row I ordered. So it was built incorrectly. Now I have to reject it and either wait for a third build or go through the hassle of a deposit refund and go someplace else.

Strange your dealer forgot the captains chairs. When i ordered my tahoe, i sat with the salesperson as he filled out the order sheet, and before he submitted it, he printed out the sheet and had us double check it to make sure it was done right. There was only 1 thing he missed but we caught it and had it fixed and then submitted it. No issues. Sounds like your working with an incompetent sales person or one who is lazy and doesnt take pride in their work. Find a different dealer and tell the dealership management why your taking your business elsewhere and that you will recommend all folks go elsewhere for vehicle purchases and to avoid their dealership at all costs.

I ordered the cheaper ones for ~$1,600.

That sucks! I was just told the delivery ETA is on the 29th. They offered it at MSRP, I hope I don't run into any surprises.

Nice! I can't wait to finally get ours. I'm contemplating plasti dipping the rims black, but I'm afraid it might look tacky, lol.

Depends on dealer.

I ordered mine, with everything specified exactly how I wanted in November 2021. I had it by Valentine’s Day 2022, exactly how I ordered it.

How long was your order to build process?

I am waiting on an allotment for a 23 Ultimate, only been a few weeks.

When I got my 21 Denali it came with 20" stock wheels. I wanted OEM 22" black wheels. At the time my dealer/GM offered a program to swap out my factory wheel/tires with GMC parts wheels/tires. They basically gave me $1500 for the 20's and charged me the GMC accessory website price for the 22" blacks. Catch was my wheel that came with the Denali had to have under 200 miles on the tires. So we parked it for about 3 weeks.

The dealership contacted me out of the blue, I just so happen to be in the market. Lucky them. Placed the order April 14 and the build was accepted on the 19th. Granted, the salesman did mention they had allocations for SLE and SLT trims, this could be why it was accepted right away. Wo knows. I was told it's being delivered tomorrow May 29th.

That is a really nice tight timeline. We are next up at our small local dealer. Sent the build to our salesperson. We went with frosted pine metallic. Not a lot of options when ordering an Ultimate. This dealer just sold an ultimate a few weeks ago and are pretty sure they will have an allotment by end of May. (They may already have it, havent asked yet)

This is 100% accurate. If you ordered dealer installed 22's, they are delivered by a GM accessory distributor local to your dealer. The accessory distributors will give credit for takeoff sets against the new upgrade wheels. If you just ordered the factory installed machined face and silver 22's, the accessory distributor should have a set lying around that you could trade the 20's in on. That exact process is what I did. Mine's a Reserve so it came with the machined face 22's and I upgraded to the 22 inch black SRV code wheels. At the end of the day, your dealer should get you the wheels you ordered and keep the pricing the same if they've got any kind of integrity.

Depends on the dealer. Mine sent me the GM WorkBench Order that showed the vehicle, options, and GM Order Number. When it was produced they sent an updated GM WorkBench Order showing the VIN and it was produced as ordered. I guess it's a dealer issue. Locally they are still marking Yukon's up $10k-$15k. I am not sure why, all they have to do is shop around, there are 2 Dealers within an hour that will order it at MSRP. One of them is the 3rd largest by volume in the US, they will order whatever you want, there is now very little wait for allocations. Smaller dealers don't have the allocations, they will tell you this is what I can get, likely because that is all they have allocations for.

On the Tahoe/Yukon, larger wheels may preclude you from using tire chains due to reduced clearance in the wheel well. Consult an online owners manual for details
