Called my dealer a week ago as I did my oil change about 2 months ago (they didn't have the "parts" for the recall yet). Dealer stated that if I wanted to bring in my car for the recall, I would have to leave it about half a day and they would not offer a loaner. They said they would hook it up to a machine that will check for a specific frequency and if it has it, it'll have the motor replaced, if not they will just change to heavier weight oil. I asked them how long I have till I have to get it done, she said a while, so I just said I'll come when my next oil change is due and just get a free oil change. She told me none of the cars they tested failed the test btw, but a week later my sister's 23 escalade blew. Mine is a 24 escalade and I was hoping it wasn't going to have the engine issues of the 21-22. guess I was wrong.

I went in for a normal oil change today. Only got the first letter. The service manager told me they were going to do the recall. Took about three hours for that and tire rotation. My unit passed.
Forgot to mention… while I was talking to the service manager he said they had a “minute” number of failures. The dealership is on the southwest edge of Austin, Tx. It’s not small… but this isn’t LA or Houston.

Well, it's certainly not in GM's favor to have many or lots of "failures". They probably have set the criterion high enough that it probably would fail within the next six months anyways, before not passing it..... Dump some oil in it and kick that can down the road.....

I'd think they measure that stuff in percentages, not in gross numbers.

Ive got an oil change tomorrow. Called first to ask about the test being done at the same time, but this dealership is requiring me to stick to the roll-out for my VIN (I only have the first letter).

I was told 2-3 wks. Stopped at dealer yesterday and she said the order she placed for another customer just arrived. She placed it a couple days before mine. She said should be soon. Let you know. In contrast, I spoke to my long term sales person, he said he has heard of some taking longer than a month or more......
Update: Dealer communicated that my replacement engine has arrived. Took 3+ wks to arrive. Not terrible compared to some stories I've heard. Let you know how the engine swap goes next.

Updating my own post...

The Service Manager told me that if dealerships are doing the test without your VIN yet being called, then they're not being paid by GM to do the test, and the recall won't show as being remedied. Just an FYI.

Also, he said they've done @ 50 tests so far, and they've all passed.

I'm starting to think that the majority of engines that are going to fail have already done so. I guess time will tell.

I'm the guy who had a 2021 Yukon that blew two engines, got a replacement 2023 Yukon that also blew an engine within the first 10k miles.

My vehicle went in today and passed with the replacement engine.

Not sure if I should be happy, or should I have been expecting engine #4 at this point. /s

I think the best outcome for this recall is failing the test and getting a new engine without the crank shaft issues. With that a new 5 year 60,000 warranty on the complete engine and a little more piece of mind. Only time will tell if just changing the engine oil is the panacea GM makes it out to be.

Did anyone get confirmation of what the warranty is for the new replacement engine? Is it 5yr, 60k?

My vehicle passed. I asked my service advisor how many have failed, and he said zero. Before the recall, they were changing engines often but have not had to do one since and that only 5% of engines are deemed at risk to begin with.

To me and completely my opinion, that tells me that the threshold is high enough to pass the recall test. What are the odds that all the bad engines were replaced before the recall? Obviously not likely and some will still fail in the future. Either the test is flawed or the threshold of failure is high enough in GM'S favor.

10yr/150k warranty on the existing engine. I wish us all luck!
