brake upgrade - what's the best "bang for the buck"?

I know someone on here has used 3/4 ton calipers and pads, also wondering about the hydro boost system.... a buddy runs an autoparts store, can get me practically anything OEM at 10% over cost. I could do slotted and/or cross drilled rotors if they work that much better than the stock.
What parts (and what years) would I need for the hydroboost?
Also, what about the rear? Any upgrades for the rear drums?



Ideally, I'd love to do it all - hydroboost, 3/4 ton pads and calipers, rotors, and a disc brake conversion on the rear.

What year model truck are they going on? Personally I believe that the 3/4 ton rotors calipers, etc aren't needed. A quality set of drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads should be all you need, especially if you plan to convert to hydroboost. As for the hydroboost, you should be able to get away with just about any year, maybe find one in the junk yard if you don't want to buy new.

As for the rear, there may be a disc brake conversion available but I would have to check for you.

If you would like a quote on the drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads, whether you decide to do the 3/4 ton conversion or not, I can usually get those types of setups for close to the same pricing as you would pay for regular stock replacement rotors and premium pads from the local autoparts stores. I have a friend that owns the local Carquest and another that runs the local Autozone and noone around here can come close to touching the pricing of the R1Concepts rotors.

Do hydroboost, GMT900 front brakes with slotted rotors and good pads, slotted rotors and good pads in the rear, finish it off with stainless steel lines and you have a huge improvement for 1/4 the cost of a big brake kit.
