Blackbear tune questions

I am looking at giving my tune Blackbear tune to a friend of mine since I no longer have my 96' Tahoe.
The problem is that he has a 2500 which has 4:10 gears, my tune is for 3:73 gears, what problems can occur? The tune has the speed limit set at 120mph. I know on my tahoe, it would go into the last gear at 35mph if I drove it slow, which would drop my RPMs to about 950-1000. I would hate to give it to him and it mess up his truck. Please let me know if it would potentially have problems, thanks.

Very likely...issues ranging from minor annoyance to performance robbing. The potential issues that I can think of right off the top are:

• From a wheel/gear standpoint - it's possible to have the gear/tire combo such that 4.10s equate to 3.73s (obviously you'll have different diameter wheels/tires between vehicles, but you get the point.
• Major potential issue would be the transmission difference. Tahoe has the 4L60E, 2500 probably has the 4L80E - totally different internal gears as well as shift points.

I'd suggest having the PCM reprogrammed for the new vehicle.

Just verified, tiger you were correct. The truck does have a 4L80E with 4:10gears, mine was tuned for a 4L60E with 3:73 gears. Now the golden question, will Blackbear retune this for free? I am the original owner of it and just bought the tuned PCM in Mid January. JennaBear please chime in! Thanks

I think retunes are free (other than shipping) for the original owner (same VIN). Doubt seriously they would be free for a "transfer" situation like what you're trying to accomplish.

they are, agree, not the same vehicle at all, tune for what you have...money well spent

I completely understand guys, thanks for all the input. I might as well try to sell it if they will charge for a retune anyways. Any idea why I can't post it on the classifieds? Tapatalk says I am not allowed to post yet. I was gonna ask $140 for it.

That explains it then, I have no way of seeing that on Tapatalk, but I am Odessa Texas. I have it posted in my sig for sale now, it is on 2 other forums now also. Why won't it work on another Tahoe Justin? I would hate to sell it and it not work.

No they are not VIN locked but they are vehicle specific.
