...but with some issues. My MAF sensor is reading low, and neither me nor Justin can figure out why. It's not the sensor itself, I just replaced it due to this issue and the truck is STILL not pulling enough air for some reason. I have gone over the intake tube with a fine-tooth comb, and there are no cracks, no dents, no damage...hell, not even very many scratches. I cleaned all of the mating surfaces, the worm clamps, the rubber connectors, everything...and got a ton of crud off of them. I thought for a second that maybe the glue holding the rear of the accordian-shaped rubber connector on the tube might have a leak, so I cleaned it up and put a bead of RVT silicone around it to make sure it was sealed. Still, no dice. The reading is more stable since I've replaced the MAF, but it's still reading lower than it should.

Justin is compensating for the problem with the tune, but I HATE having an unsolved issue that has to be corrected with software, rather than fixing the issue itself. It's not the intake manfold gasket, I specifically asked. I honestly don't know what else could be wrong. I guess I will just have to use this as an excuse to get an aftermarket intake system. :D

Funny thing is, my truck usually gets DISMAL gas mileage. Like, 13.5 mpg average. After the first couple of datalogging runs I did ( I've done a total of five becuase of this frappin problem with the MAF), I was down to 12.5 average. Then, I cleaned up the intake and did all of that stuff, and even after two more datalogging runs in the mountains, my truck has jumped to 15.6mpg average as of my fill up today! Obviously I fixed SOME sort of intake leak, but the MAF is still off? What gives?

Heh, I have a feeling that I'll like him a whole lot more once the new PCM is in the mail. It's going out tomorrow, so next week is party time. :party33:

I don't think its free. I believe he did the scan cable tune.

Correct. I've got about $600 ($350 of which is refundable equipment deposits) plus two tanks of gas wrapped up in this tune so far, but I sincerely hope that the end result is worth it. From everything I've gathered on Tahoeforum, it will be. I'm very, very excited...even with my MAF sensor being retarded.

Yeah, I think that fixing the actual problem isn't going to happen at this point...Justin and I are both at a total loss as to what could be causing the MAF sensor to read the way it has been. So, he'll tune around it and all should be well in Yukeland, lol. He said that the new PCM will probably go out today, so hopefully I'll have it installed by the end of next week. I need to burn through the current tank of 85 and refill with 91 beforehand though.

Yeah, the wait time for the cable was only about 6 weeks in my case, but I think that since the weather is getting nicer, the list might start getting long again. Even though they just bought a ton of new cables, they go fast.

13.5 mpgs?? Damn... that's what I'm getting on average with a heavy foot with my truck on 37's.... Maybe I should clean my intake and see if I can boost it up some like you did.... damn you for inspiring me to do something productive with my day

Yeah, something was NOT right with that. I only recently started tracking my mileage with the Fuelly app on my blackberry. I've been taking it super easy with this tank to see what my highest mileage will be BEFORE I install the tuned PCM. Then I'll at least have a baseline to see how much I've gained from the tune.

Don't take it really easy. Drive like you normally would.... I say this because having it tuned is incredibly fun and will be hard to keep your foot off of it.

Well when I get the new PCM installed, of course I'll be pushing it a little...I'll want to see what my truck can do compared to stock! I'm just driving like a grandpa right now to see how much mileage I can squeeze out of the stock PCM before installing the tuned one. Then I'll (painfully) do the same thing for one whole tank with the tuned PCM, and see what how my max numbers compare to each other.

so with the cable tune, justin has to send out a separate PCM? I thought it was all done over the computer with the cable?
