(positive)

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17814_Kicker+CBN.html
(negative)

and for the grounds, i would go wit some of these

it makes it all vary simple, and looks good also.

edit: that little wire i upped to an 8 gauge, and im actually looking to get rid of my battery terninals lol

im updating to these

you dont need a top post, just go buy some post extenders. makes it just like a top post but on the side. I wanna say i paid 2.50 for mine. they work great. gold plated and all. :)

really? hmm never seen/heard of those... i like the top post battery more then the side, but i perfer not to blow a bunch of money on a battery right now if i already have a good one.. u know.. the big 3 upgrade was just something to keep me occupied to do, since ive been working at a caraudio shop for the past 2 weeks and i got some free wire. so what the hell right?? lol

Idea!!!! Just put in enough wire so that latter on you can swap to a top post and not have to redo it all,

but if i were you i would just buy a yellow top sooner then latter, and do it all the right way.

How long have you guys had your Optimas? From the reviews I read they seem to go bad within the first year and are overrated. I was gonna buy a Red Top until I started reading up on reviews and experiences from people who had ran them. Yellow Tops don't seem to be bad though as they're deep cycle but I ended up getting a DieHard Platinum either way.

As far as the Big 3, are you guys replacing the cables or adding to them? I was always under the impression that this was an add-on.

I've heard that about optimas too. when it was time for a new batt i went with the biggest one walmart had for my application. 750cca is plenty imo. plus theres like a 7 year warranty. didnt have to change out my connections for the truck either. its all personal preference:imo:

Yeah, the DieHard has 880CCA and 135 minutes of reserve. 34/78 group so it has the top and side mounts also. Overkill but at least I know I wont have to upgrade down the road.

Okay thought so. Just need to buy battery terminals, wiring and the ground terminals.

Also, I have a subscription to ConsumerReports, the best rated battery for under $90 was the NAPA Select 84 in their tests. Just throwing that out there if anybody is looking for a new battery.

Yeah that would work. The highest rated battery was the DieHard Platinum, runner up was an Optima RedTop. If you're gonna go Optima go with a YellowTop though, they are deep cycle batteries and do so much better than the RedTops. If you read online you'll notice that they give out within the year.

Also, Group 34/78 will give you the top and side mounts. Group 75 is just the sides.

Just an FYI, Optima is Intersate.

I had 2 red tops before running dual battery alternator, had them for 7 years across 3 vehicles. One got pulled and sat on a board in the garage for 2 years. After 2 years, I was able to hook up to it to jump start my Tahoe.

I traded one in under warranty for a yellow top, and had it burn out in a few months. Had the new yellow top for over a year now and no problems other than the g/f leaving the lights on at work all day when I took her car to work for service...
