I'm waiting to hear how this turns out. My Police SSV came with the same issue that the back up lights don't work but it got to darn cold up here in the Rockies before I got it looked at.
Mine also has an extra dome light that doesn't work either.

BRAKE LIGHT UPDATE: It was the bulbs

I feel like a real moron. I typically work in the garage by myself, and this issue was no exception. I had my driver side tail light harness hanging out to the side of the bumper so I could see it when I pressed the brakes, but I didn’t think to hang the passenger harness out so I could see it from under the car. It took my 4 year old to tell me that the passenger side was illuminating when I pressed the brakes. So I grabbed a new set of bulbs for the brakes and turn signals on both sides, threw them in, and Voila! Brakes are back!

Stay tuned because I have more to say/ask about the reverse lights.
