Never thought I'd get the itch for another 1500 after I sold my old one, but I love the idea of having a 6.6L 475hp/500ft-lb engine in a new Suburban with all the tech. If the next gen SUVs look good, and have good pricing incentives, I may be in the market.

I know it's generally not advised to get the first year of a new generation, but I figure by the time the next gen Tahoe/Suburban comes out, the 5.7 and 6.6 V8s will have been out for a year or two in the Silverado. Hopefully GM has lessons learned from AFM/DOD failures. I understand these new engines will have a similar type of system, but it will be more robust.

What are your thoughts?

The Tahoe/Suburban were refreshed in 2025. Realistically, I wouldnt expect a full redesign until 2029 at the earliest.

You are correct in your though that the engines being introduced into the sierras will help them iron out some of the issues, however I would still wait atleast a year for any of the technology glitches.

So basically if youre willing and able to wait till 2030-ish, then it will be great!

It wouldn't wait for something that may or may not be a thing. But then I would get another 6.2 in a heartbeat. I think the 3 engine choices in the big SUV are fine and would have not trouble with getting any of the 3.

Good point, didn't think of the refresh. I guess I viewed that as more of a facelift of the T1xx. But 2029 is realistic. The SUVs are updated 2 years after the pickups traditionally, it seems.

I suppose I can wait until 2030.. gives me more time to save money, since the base price of an LT will probably be >$70k at that point!
