Unfortunately, no luck this evening.

Removed the radio entirely. Disabled antivirus and firewalls completely. Hooked up my battery charger and tried to connect - communication error. I look at my charger and see that it's pushing 15V+, lol. Turned to "motorcycle" mode which seemed to be a more reasonable 12.3-12.4V with the truck key turned on (key off shows 12.7-12.8) and it connects, but again fails to actually write the new data to the module.

I'm not sure what to do at this point. Maybe try that OBDX Pro.

I've never been able to program with this Tech2. Last time I needed to code a module I used my now not-functioning MDI clone.

Maybe try taking all the connections apart clean or blow them out with air and re-attach very firmly, then try again

A service bulletin that mentions the cyber security code on page 3. Not a lot of info, but something about renaming sps folder and relaunching. No idea if it applies to you..

Have you tried reprogramming your old door module just to see if it will program?

I am not able to reprogram the old driver's module or the passenger module. I haven't tried any others out of fear of bricking them lol. Each time, same communication error when it tries to write.

It can "see" the truck, shows me available modules that can be updated, choose and download the configuration, then tries to push and goes through 2 retries before cancelling.

Here are the instructions from that service bulletin.

E4491 – Reprogramming Error: Check all connections and reset Programming Interface
E4492 – Cyber Security Access Failure
E4399 – There was an error retrieving the controller data

1. Clear cache.
2. Rename SPS folder in C drive and save on computer. example: This PC > OSDisk (C:) > Users > (GM ID (six digits)) > sps
3. Relaunch TLC in admin mode.
4. Connect wired MDI. Note: If steps 1 through 4 don’t work, try a different setup if available (computer/MDI/cable)

The smiley face is a : and )

I got tired of messing with it, put the Tech2 away in it's case and just ordered one of those OBDx Pro things. We'll see if that does any better.

On another fun note, now there seems to be some kind of draw on the battery happening.

I love my truck.

hope it works for you.. did you get get the pro GT? it worked great for 2 of my cars, a newer 14 volt that needs the newer than a tech 2. I forget what gm calls it and my 2011 yukon..

the gm site was still annoying but the dongle worked great. even had a open source scanner app for windows that comes with it. bit bear bones for now, but being open source it could be made to do anything if a smarter than me people adds all the pids and commands to it someday.

Yes, got the GT. Apparently the VX(?) is also J2534 compatible, but the GT specifically mentions being able to communicate with low-speed canbus. It should be here saturday.

I'm also researching LSDroid, PCMHammer and TunerPro to play around with my LM7-swapped C10.... if I can use this dongle for more than one thing I'll be happy.

is a long thread but here's what I found on the development of it.

I've not used ls Droid but I watched some YouTube videos on it a while back. if you have the older ecm, I hope it works for you.

Yeah it's a 411 PCM out of an '02, if I remember right. I only ever had VATS removed, it's never been tuned at all and I've been driving it for almost 5 years that way. I'd like to play with some of the shift points, first.

Still no luck. Same exact behavior.

I connect to the truck with the new OBDX Pro GT, it can see the controllers, allows me to choose, tells me the current coding and what's going to be written - go to write, fail. Every time.

Antivirus and firewalls disabled. Voltage good.

E4491 – Reprogramming Error: Check all connections and reset Programming Interface
E4423 - Programming failed

Driver door window would not go up and down anymore. All other windows would. I can command the window down and up with a Tech2 and it works.

I'm a bit confused. can you not replace the switch on the drivers door without replacing the module? I changed a passengers rear switch. it was just cheap cheap little switch that pops in and out?

as for programming. can you find something else that has an update available to try? mine had like 32 modules and a few different ones had newer software. I didn't feel like doing anything but the tranny. but that might rule out if it's truck or gm/laptop side.

I haven't been able to update ANY modules. Same error.

The driver's door module contains all of the switches for the windows, mirrors, door locks, etc. When I disassemble it the switches are little plastic rockers that depress a rubber membrane that covers the whole circuit board. There's no individual electronic switch to replace.
