Anyone get any slight "surging" near slow stops?

Hey all,

Seems to me that, especially on slow, up hill stops (rolling slowly to a stop sign on an upward grade), I often get a slight surge or lurch forward. It's pretty disconcerting. I just started watching the tach when this happens, and it looks like the needle will dip and then bounce a couple times right around the 1000 rpm mark before dropping down to its resting idle.

Is this a computer thing? Seems to me that the tach should drop consistently down to idle speeds as the truck slows consistently -- but, I get that little surge around 1000 rpm.

At first I thought I had warped my rotors already (don't even have 2000 miles on the truck). But, I'm thinking it's something in the fuel management/computer system.

Maybe it's considered "normal" on the nbs trucks, but it's annoying.

Anyone else experiencing anything like this?

Thanks!

I even get some 'less desirable' shifts at times. That torque management system seems to be a bit to protective at times. I do miss driving a manual at times.

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone experienced this kind of behavior, then get a tune, and found that the surging went away. I wonder if I tune (changing shift points, etc.) could eliminate this...

only at times though...right?

yea. that and if you gave it a little gas and the engine in first gear would go. vroom vroom vrooom vrooom, Jurking the cabin, Then shift. Not its smooth as silk. Say in a parking lot, this would also happen.

Know issue, there is a slack in the differential, it used to happen to me, but I took it to the dealership and they had a TSB out for it and fixed it, never happened ever since.

Never. I have over 32,000 on mine and it has been flawless. The engine is great. Excellent economy. The transmission is the best.

Only 10K on mine -- and I've always had the "issue."

I had something like that on the sierra with the variable valve management thing.

Never had it on the Denali.

im not sure if this is the same as what youre describing but sometimes my trans feels like it shifts up, then down (higher rpm) and then back up (lower revs) when climbing a hill. In not positive if thats whats really happening because it always happens so fast I dont have time to look at the tach plus its very slight. I thought I was just feathering the accelerator pedal. if it feels too sluggish i just push it a tad more and it down shifts again. never considered this an issue...hmmm

I had this on my 2009 and upon review, had a disconnected vacuum line under the engine cover.

I've experienced the same thing on my 2011 Suburban. Just got the Auto Cal and will be installing the BB tune shortly. Hopefully this will resolve the issue.
