I'm ready to pull the trigger on a tune and come to find that the program works with windows and not a Mac OS. How can I make this work without buying a Windows based laptop?
Any of you with a BB tune have Mac OS instead of Windows?

I actually run Boot Camp on my Macbook which comes with every Mac nowadays and installed Windows 7 on the partitioned hard drive and just run the AutoCal software on that. Not hard to find a copy of windows 7 these days...

EFI live which is the basest for all of the BB tunes and is a windows based set. I used a windows laptop for my truck

Thanks for the replies guys! Can you explain it to me like I'm five. All this partition talk is latin to me. I'd say take it to PMs but there might be some others who would benefit from this info.

I had that issue hen I had my tune. I won't run Boot Camp or Parallels or Fusion or any other kind of windows emulator on any of my Macs. My OSs have been virus free since 02 and they will stay that way.
The bigger issue is that the Autocal won't hold more than 1.5 tunes, basically the two files of your original tune and one of the BB tune, or vice versa. Practically, that means that if the BB tune is in the truck, you have your stock tune to go back to in the autocal. But if you load your original tune back into the truck then you've got to get BB to re-upload your BB tune into the Autocal so you can get back on the truck.
All of this could have easily been avoided with a little more extra storage space in the Autocal which would have given us the ability to at least hold the two files of our original tune and the two files of the BB tune so we can go back and forth.
EFI Live have gotten lazy with this. Memory has never been cheaper and Mac OS has never been more popular. It's just bad business.

Serge, It's possible that the files for your denali were much bigger but I can hold 6 tune files on my AutoCal

Mmm interesting, it never even occurred to me that they would be such significant differences ... but yeah I could only get 1.5 6.2 tunes in my Autocal.
If you can get six of the 5.3 files in, then it really doesn't matter what OS you run, unless you want more than three tunes (stock+2).

Partition just means splitting your hard drive up so you can handle two operating systems. So if you have a 320GB hard drive, you can have 220GB for your Mac OS X and then split off 100GB to the side and put windows on it. Boot Camp is very easy to use. It has a wizard it runs you through and all you need is a copy of windows to do it.

On the 5.3 yes, but serge is right. Only 1.5 for the 6.2

Just go to utilities on your mac and look for "boot camp" or just type it in under the spotlight search thing in the top right corner of your mac. Grab a copy of windows, and then follow the instructions on the screen when you run the bootcamp application. And when all is installed and well, easiest way to switch between OS's is to restart the mac, wait for the "ding" sound and then hold the "option" key until it gives you a choice to choose which partition.
