Ya know,... the thing I like/hate about this forum is that although I've never used my cassette player, it never occured to me to put something else there. Now I can't stop thinking about it.
Might make a good stash spot for a 9mm in a spring clip. Maybe even a fake cassette player face. Hmmm...

I just ordered the compartment bin to replace the cassette player too after reading about it on this forum.

What about some sort of holder for a cell phone holder?

gmpartsgiant.com

Item #15958735 COMPARTMENT $19.07

Subtotal $19.07
Tax $0.00
UPS Ground $8.80
Special Shipping Cost $0.00
Total $27.87

You can do a google search with the part number and I found a half dozen places that had it. Says it will arrive tomorrow.

I got my storage compartment in Saturday, installed it in less than 5 minutes.

Open the flip compartment and using a 7mm socket pull out 2 screws (no need to even take the flip cover off). There are two plastic tabs on top of the plastic housing, I slid my hand up and gently popped them off.

Cassette player slides out and new compartment slides right in and clicks.

The compartment is bigger than I thought. Here is also a picture of it with a glock 27 in it so give you an idea of its size.

Very easy and cheap modification and gives a little more storage.

And if anyone needs a cassette player, it's free to anyone on this forum, just pay s&h.

Took less than 5 minutes to take out. I saved the cassette deck face to make a false front for the compartment. I'll take some pics when I get the part in.
