Hey all,
No huge deal here, but my air bag warning light came on yesterday while driving my wife's 06 Denali. We parked, went into a store and when we returned, it was off again. Hasn't been on since.

I'm sure if something is really wrong that the light will come on again.

It's my understanding that the air bag warning light is a "get it fixed right away" kind of repair. If it isn't working correctly and you get in an accident it might not work. If it malfunctions while I'm driving, it could cause a huge problem.

Somebody let me know if I'm way off base here.

Also, anybody have an idea on price to fix this when it comes back? I take my rig to Midas and trust them here.

Thanks,

Rok

You are correct. If the light is on, the SRS system is disabled = no airbag deployment.

Sounds like it is probably one of the more frequently interacted with SRS components such as a seat belt tensioner. Have the body codes read somewhere with the appropriate scan tool. These are not read with your typical cheaper cost code-readers. Try either a shop that specializes in GMs or a dealer to get the codes read. It will take a OEM level tool like a Snap on Solus or the actual tool, the Tech2.
