Decided to add a homelink module from a 1999 overhead to my 1997 overhead
I head its both 1999 and 1997 are 1 plug for all overhead electrics.

The 1999 overhead has three wires: black, orange and white.
The 1997 overhead has two wires: black and orange.

What is the white wire?
Do I need it ?
If I do need it, where can I pick it up?

Thanks,
Tony

Ok easy mod worth doing.
The white wire is illumination from the panel(i.e NOT hot all the time)
Its not needed for Homelink; only need orange and black.
I replaced the single "button" overhead door with a homelink module and it controls all three garage doors.

Sorry to revive this dead thread, but I’m adding homelink to my 95. Just curious if anyone hooked up the illumination wire on theirs. Is there a good place to spiced that in close by or if I should run power and illumination from behind the dash somewhere?
