I just learned of this myself....
A guy on crownvic.net i guess added acetone to a Lincoln town car that had a code PO420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold).
Quoted from one of his posts....
"First I did a laser temp reading on the front converter, the front was hotter than the back on both converters =clogged converters.
After acetone and a week later, the temp readings were where they should be!
No more code either,so just to be curious and have time one my hands , I removed the bad converters, insides looked clean as a whistle![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
I was even more curious, so here comes the boroscope, the pistons were shiny at the top, and all injectors im sure are cleaned up as well, the plugs were even clean"

Source i found while doing a google search on Acetone....

Acetone is basicly a "paint thinner" but i guess works great for cleaning internals on a motor/exhaust system.
Thoughts??
