My air is coming through the defroster vents and not the dash. Was told if I disconnect actuator box it will come through the dash. If this is true I could use some guidance with this as I have never done this before

best option is to just replace the actuator, unplugging it to move the door is a option but you will probably want your defroster back at some point in the seasons
not sure exactly where that actuator is but it is likely up behind the radio or you may have to pull the passenger side airbag to get access to it.

I've seen others that don't require the engine to be started. But I don't know if these work, since I use my Tech 2 to do mine.

take the actuator off and you can move the door by hand, but then it's loose and floppy and will flip the other direction depending on gravity and air flow

I also don't know where the actuator is--either.

looks like you can get to it from under the drivers side, sort of

before you go tearing into that though, get under there with a flasdhlight and move the ac controls to verify if this is the actuator you need to work on, otherwise it may not be the right one.
