Lots of folks here have turned the option off, and they will chime in with their methods.

Never heard of that one but the Range Technologies device is the popular one on the site that I personally run. Matter of fact I had to unplug it for a week to pass the emissions test and just passed today so it was a relief to plug it back in!

I wanted to turn off the option for the engine to go from 8 cylibers to 4 cylinders. I did the same on my Honda Odyssey due to the issues it causes.
Has anyone done it? I was thinking of using this:

that's a range disabler knock-off, it's always a matter of time until someone copies something...
for the price it is what it is. for a little more you could get a canned tuner, hypertech or diablo, etc used on ebay then you could do a few other things beside turn off afm
and for a bit more you could get a tune from @BlackBearPerf and get lots more

I've used a range device for 80k on my 2017 yukon and it has been great. No emissions by me, so all good

Heck yeah we would be happy to help with a custom tune, and our EFILive AutoCal V3 handheld tuner is on sale through Cyber Monday!

I have been using the Range Disabler on my 2007 as well. I plugged it in about 100k ago with zero problems.

However, from what I hear doing the tune is the better option plus you get much more in the way of overall improvements in engine and trans performance.

+1 Range here - I used it for several months until I got my BlackBear tune, which programmed out the AFM. If cost is a major factor, I'd keep an eye out for a used Range unit on Marketplace or CL.
