I have 1999 Chevy Tahoe with a 5.7 and I put a crate engine and it’s a couple months ago the problem Im having is when I push the gas it takes a minute beforere it go its like it doesn't want to accelerate.can someone help me out let me know. What it could be???

What it could be?? It needs diagnosing, you're there and we're here. Was it running fine and suddenly developed this problem? Has the check engine light come on at all?

Check fuel pressure, replace fuel filter, recheck all fuel lines, especially the ones that go BACK from the Charcoal Canister to the tank,
also check fuel pressure regulator and any valves.

TBH I replaced it because I was scamed by this shop that was suppose to rebuild my old engine but put a engine in and didn't know how many miles was on it here in CA so I purchased the crate engine and noticed I was still having the same issue the acceleration issue I press on the pedal. It takes a minute before it actually kicks in and goes.

Do the engine rpms rise when you step on the gas pedal? If not, that's one thing.

If the rpms do rise, but the truck won't move, that's something like transmission, brakes locked up, parking brake on, transfer case (if 4wd). Transmission fluid up to correct level when hot and nice and red/pink?

Is it a new throttle body on the new engine ? i mean, I don’t think the TB would have an effect so severe as described, but a super dirty one could cause some sluggishness.

yes, the RPMs move when I step on the gas it just takes a minute before it actually register to go and the transmission. I had rebuilt three years ago. It’s 2 Wheel Dr.

The top name is from the old engine, the exhaust manifold cover all that stuff is from the old engine. I just had to take the top parts off the old engine. I cleaned them real good and boated everything down with you know new gaskets and stuff.

Were the valves adjusted on new engine? Any codes set?

Page 2 and I'm running out of popcorn. We still don't know if it ever ran good, if the check engine light has come on, if there are any codes set and we don't know what the fuel pressure is.

Hey @KingMyersJr26 , can you answer Eman's questions? Namely,
Have you gotten a check engine light?
Have you retrieved the codes? Some codes get stored even if there is no check engine light.
What's your fuel pressure with:
a) the key on, not running, and
B) at idle?
If you don't have a gauge or know how to check, say so. I think it should be minimum 60 at idle, a touch higher with key on.

Also,
Have you replaced the fuel filter? I believe it's on the driver side in the frame rail, under the rear doors.
Have you assessed the condition of your fuel lines?

Any recent work on the rear end?
Any recent work on the brakes?
And once the truck does get moving, is it smooth sailing or sluggish?

I had this problem when I owned my 2011 Tahoe LTZ and it turned out to be fuel injector issues. After replacement all was fine but I would go with the advise of the experts here, you need to get it and the dealer will start you off at $185 with no guarantee that they will fix the problem.
