97 water pump r&r

does anyone have a how to to replace a water pump ona 97 burban, im doing one on saturday, and can prolly do it no prob just seeing if anyones done it and can give some quick tips, thanks in advance

Take pictures, I'm sure plenty of us know how to do it but for the newbies, I'm sure you can help them out with pictures and instructions.

If you still have a clutch fan that might be a pain to take off. I remember it sucked when I took it off for my efan install. The water pump should be a pretty straight forward deal.

I know yours is a tbi but here are the instructions from alldatadiy for a 98 vortec truck, should be similar:

im doing a water pump on my friends 97 vortec this weekend and it looks really similar to a tbi, thanks again

I read the thread. When you are gonna do the Write up you can make a new thread so it doesn't have all the questions and links in it. Just keping the tech sections cleaned up with Tech Articles and not threads about how to do something.

Also be carefull when you are putting the new pump on. Alot of people have had the bolts break off when they were putting it back on. Its not fun when that happens.

Mine was easy ('99 LT, 5.7L). I had to remove the fan shroud, fan, belts. Four bolts on the pump. I bought a Bosch unit from Rock Auto for just over $50. Stealership wanted $379 to do the job.

Thanks guys. I'm a noob here at the forum. I have a 97 Tahoe 4dr 4x4 with the Vortec 350 and need to do this job this weekend as well. The Alldata diagram is perfect. Thanks Whippled2dr.

I concur with cqlink. Rock Auto has better prices than most places and have had much success with ordering through them.

Look forward to viewing and posting in the near future.
