'97 Tahoe Headlights Won't Shut Off-Help!

After turning on the Lights at the Dash all the way, then turning them off, all the exterior Lights shut off except the Headlights. (Tail Lights and Front Marker Lights do shut off)

By disconnecting the Battery (neg cable) then re-connecting the cables the Headlights then stay off.

Until I turn the Headlights back on, the process repeats itself,

My High-Low Switch works properly where I have Hi-Low Beams.

It is to be noted I also have a Hi-4 Kit installed and it works correctly.

I need help quickly, supposed to take a cross state trip shortly.

Maybe this will help. It’s either a bad headlight switch or you have a short to voltage.

When the table below refers to the “headlamp dimmer switch”, that’s the turn signal stalk. The “headlamp and panel dimmer switch” is the headlight switch on the dash.

I lucked out, I suspected the Hi-4 30A Relay and was right.

I was wrong earlier mentioning that after shutting Lights off, then re-hooking battery that the Lights then stayed off. They didn't stay off.

I know I replaced this Relay for the Hi-4 Kit a couple times in the past 13-14 years.

Oddly, and with just 4 wires going to this previous 5 Blade Relay, I bought a 4 Blade, took a chance, luckily hooked it up right first time out and all appears OK.

Thanks for your help. Am happy it wasn't a Dash Light Switch, or some other problem.
