96 tahoe

I found a 96 2 door 4x4 Tahoe with 110k supposed to be all good except
It has a spun rod bearing....It is cheap

What I want to know if my 96 ecsb vortec (5.0)305 will bolt in and run good enough until I get the 5.7 rebuilt ???
The (5.0)305 has 56k and runs great .

i think everything will bolt up with just a computer flash if im not mistaken

I would think it would fit with pcm reprogrammed but I will have to compare the diagrams to see if something is different.

I bought it....I was told just use the PCM from the truck...no flash needed.

It has 135k It is really solid will get pics up soon.


Edit...Today I was told 5.0 ecm may not work because of the 4x4 ,the truuck is 2wd.

Well I bought it for my stepson to drive,He is a good kid but not very patient....
So If my 5.0 will work I want to get it running,The rims,tires and stereo are worth what i paid so if I have to I could sell the truck and buy a 5.7 or rebuild the original.

Start teaching him some.

Better yet have a father/son moment and rebuild it together.

He will be doing the work with me,I really don't have the tools or shop for a rebuild here.
We can borrow/rent(I work for a large equipment rental company) what we need to do a swap.I have a fair amount of hand tools.If the 5.0 won't work ,I will have to get the 5.7 rebuilt or buy a crate motor.
