I am thinking about rebuilding my spare 350 to see if I can do it. But I am still in the first stages of my research of what I want to do. Has anyone on here rebuilt them and can tell me what modifications they have done to them. My goals are to build a motor for torque. yes it is a 2 bolt main but I think that the amount of power I want to put in it will not be to crazy so i think it will be good. I am going to bore it .30 over and possibly convert it to a 383 stroker. I am not sure if i should rebuild my heads or get some new ones yet. This isn't going to be a huge rpm motor maybe 5000 so I am not sure what cam to put in either. any advice is appreciated!

Also if possible I would like to take of the TBI system and put on a carberator. I am going to try to build a truck with the least amount of computers as possible.

Edelbrock makes some really nice performance kits for non vortec 350s, I would look into that. (it would also give you the carb setup if you want) but if you're looking for torque, delve into the world of camshafts. I'm not sure what's out there, but a different cam can make a HUGE difference in your powerband.

unknown at this time.
Unless you want to spend allot just on tranny controllers stick with tbi or upgrade to a vortec Improvements to the tbi are out there far and wide. And convert the block to a stroker but you will probably go 4 bolt mains.

You can make plenty of power with a 355, no need to goto a 383 especially on a 2 bolt or a TBI setup. My final build will be 355ci, Vortec heads, beehive springs, stainless steel roller rockers, LT4 hot cam ground on an LS1 firing order, 50MM TBI (or bigger) upgraded injectors, air gap dual plane intake, TBI to carb adapter, egr delete, long tube headers, 3 or 3.5 single exhaust and a chip to run it all. You obviously need other supporting mods to the tranny to take this power ...

What ever you do toss those TBI heads in the ******* trash. If you don't want to go the Vortec route you can get nice heads from the after market that will perform alot better then those heads you have now.

haha

Plus one for using the stock TBI heads as boat anchors. Get rid of the ****** intake and cam as well...

Im in the process of putting the whipple on the hoe, but im also adding a Edelbrock 3704 TBI intake and a cam with some beehives for now until later i can grab a set of aftermarket heads.. I STRONGLY suggest you read up on this site Tbichips.com

Jegs and Summit both sell rotating assemblies which would make things easier as far as picking things out. That way you dont have to figure out which piston/rod/crank combo would go well together etc.
