40's

Anyone running 40"tires on a yukon xl or tahoe

im looking to know how much of a lift i will need.

Damn, i would plan on a SFA. No IFS is gonna hold 40s. I say 12+"s and a built 14bolt to hold it together.

I had 40's on my f-150. Never had any problems. It had 11" of lift. Just woundering if the bullet proof 12" lift would work or would i have to go higher.

haha im not even sure. People run 37s with a 6+3 combo im sure you can run 40s with a 12"

Your hubs will break and snap on the highway and have your car really messed up with tires/wheels flying down the freeway while your car grinds on the ground.
I would maybe run 40s if I had a 4wd and CVs, but would prefer having a straight axle.

at my job we have done 38's on alot of 2wd trucks with no problems i didnt think 40's would be much different

As much as i would like to see a 09 on 40s i dont think it would last very long. I would see if max chimes in. He installs lifts in his sleep

I would do 37s if I were you, the only issue is your truck looks to be too high with all that lift it may not look right.
Do you have a Bulletproof lift, or CST, FTS?

Only thing I would do is get some 4wd hubs, removed the axle from it leaving you with the outer part that mounts to the spindle and the stub shaft that goes thru the spindle, this way the hub cannot fall out when it fails which is the biggest downfall/fear of lifted 2wd 1/2ton trucks.

I had 40's on a 6-3 set up, with 3 inch cut out bushwhacker flares on my 1996 half ton. Only rubbed when i jumped it. If you do not want to cut fenders you will need a 12 i would say.

i have the 6-3 combo and had 38 swampers on. the more u go on ifs the worse it is, do the sas swap, its way worth it!

I'm running 40's on a 2002 yukon. I have a 6" susp. 3" body torsion bars cranked. It rubs like hell so I think I'm going to have to step down to a 38
