I just wanted to say hello to everyone here. I just purchased my first ever truck and it is a 1997 Tahoe and I love it.

Even after just owing this vehicle for just 3 weeks I am already looking forward to modifying it to suit my tastes. It seems that there are a plentiful supply of accessories for these tahoes.

My Tahoe is a LT model ( I still do not know the differance between LS and LT models but anyways ) in that dark purple metallic color. It has the GT4 3.73 axels, 115,*** miles, leather interior, OEM CD player (which does not work) and it is very very clean inside and out especially for being from wisconsin. not a rust bubble on the outside at all. This thing is just eye candy for me.

ANyways, I just wanted to say hello and let you know was i just bought. i have some typical little problems with my hoe like leaky rear pinion seal and steering sensor wierdness but otherwise I just love this truck.

I cannot wait to start doing things to it.

Take care to all !!!

Welcome aboard and congrats on your newly acquired ride:cheers:
Get some pics up when you get a chance. Don't see too many of the purple metallic variety.

Hello and thank you all for the very nice replies.

I am including a picture of my Tahoe. This picture was taken with my cell phone and the truck was kinda dusty/dirty but I have cleaned her up good now and looks beautiful. In the picture you may notice the "for sale" sign in the window,, I took this picture the day I went to meet up with the owner and take her for a test drive. It is sadly not for sale anymore as I now own this beauty :)

My Tahoe is what I consider to be a absolutely unmolested and unchanged factory truck. I am trying my best to learn these vehicles and their options as available from the factory. I am likewise eager to find quality accessory upgrades for both the interior and the exterior and engine. For instance, the lights/lenses below the headlights on my Tahoe are looking yellowish and I would like to get lenses that are clear. Also, I think the stock amber side marker lights for the front would look nice clear but I am still learning if these things are available and are quality products to invest in.

I found two web sites/forums that seem to have a good knowledge base about the Tahoes/Yukons/Suburbans. One of these sites is this one and the other site seems to have gone offline recently or something. Anyways, I am thankful to have found this site and the community here seems very accepting of a newbie Tahoe owner like myself.

I look forward to more!!!!! AND I am sorry for the long post.

My baby is below :)

Looks good.. I think I may know what the other site you were referring to is. A lot of us came from there after shortly after it changed ownership and went down hill swiftly, but that is a whole other topic.

Got the leaky rear pinion fixed thankfully. I thought it would have cost more but it was only $100 installed. Next time if it goes bad I think I will do it myself.

I have a question for you all. I am looking for aftermarket clear headlights and turn signals. Do any of you have a opinion on these I found on ebay? Are they worth the money and will they last? Is there a better looking brand or type?

EDit and add>> What do you all think of these that are on ebay? Link below. Thanx

Also,, what would you recommend in regards to replacing the amber front side markers with something clear? I found some ones on ebay for 5 dollars but the price makes me suspicious of quality and how they may look once installed.

It was a most excellent day today here in Wisconsin. 70 degrees and sunny so I detailed up the Hoe. I posted a "clean" pic of her. Damn,, I just love these trucks.

Thanks for any helpful replies and ideas as I appreciate it greatly.

I say go for those that you posted. Price isn't too bad and they will improve the look IMO. I can't speak for the quality but I would imagine that they would last just fine but I will let those that have purchased lights on ebay vouch for that. GL!

i personally wouldnt buy those lights you put up. Inside buy TYC hid lights on ebay and get a set of corners and running lamps. those headlights will piss you off more then you can imagine. I have close to the same set, and all they do is get moisture in them, cant see shit in front of me and dont align with nothing. But if you have money coming out of your ass knock your self out.. lol.. sorry for that rant. but the ones i have are garbage.. :)
