I just went for a oil change before my 30,000 and the service guy asked me if i want to get my 30,000 mile service. i already have a maintenance plan with them but they said other than what is covered under the maintenance i should look in to the following.

Transmission svc $205 <~ changing out the transmission fluid with factory grade

Fuel injector clean $ 152.95

Mass air Flow Clean $69.95

Total 427.90

Do you guys think this is worth it or not for only 30k mile service?

I just took my yukon in for its 50000 mile service, as far as I know the tranny filter and fluid needs changed at this interval and not at 30000 unless you do some serious hauling with it. The GMC dealership charged me $139 for my filter tranny change with gm fluids. Your price seems high.

Best bet is to check to see what GM suggests in the owners manual. I have found many dealers like to recommend service before it is due to increase service revenue... including oil change intervals.

A tranny service at 30K is *********. There is NO need to service any of those before
50K. That is hoe dealers are making money right now, by talking people into un needed services like that.

I would suggest not touching your trans. unless you have drained it before. I have seen too many times guys flushing out their trans. with new fluid and start running into problems. If you don't do a ton of hauling, there is no need to change your trans. fluid.

Call a transmission shop and ask their advice!!! Anyone telling you to do it at 30,000 or 50,000 miles is just trying to make money!!!

Again unless you are towing a ton it is simply not needed.

I just hit 80,000 miles in my Tahoe, checked the fluid, and still looked and smelled like it was brand new

Yep check the manual - I believe all fluids at 50k. BTW the quote is way high.

I have seen the same as BC regarding tranny flushes. By putting excess pressure on the interior parts (like clutch packs), it seems to affect shifting/performance afterwards. IMO it is better to just drain and replace the tranny fluid.

Sorry to say, but you got digged into on that.
The tranny should not have any services till atleast 75K miles like stated above, injectors can be cleaned a good amount with SeaFoam and STP treatments which will total $25, then you could have bought Mass Air flow spary cleaner from AutoZone for $6 of so and put in manual labor and spent like $0 bucks tops with the gas money it will take around town to get all that stuff.

For most GM vehicles (and I have owned a bunch over the years) they recommend changing the tranny fluid at 50k for severe service which is basically everyone by the definition I read. Otherwise it is 100k. Transfer case on my 06 Envoy Denali was 50k, axles were never, I had them all done a little early.

$215 seems WAY too high anyways. I have an auto tranny in my 08 Vette and the dealer said $129, another $99 for the rear axle. Fuel system services are about worthless, real high profit for the dealer. I use to do them on my vehicles until one time they left a bottle of techron in the car and said add it to the gas tank when it is empty. Just buy a bottle of techron every few fill ups and you should be good unless you use real crappy gas. I even asked my dealer if he would give me a discount on the above items and an oil change and he said yes. So for about $300 and change I'll have the tranny, rear axle and engine oil changed.

lol of course i didnt get it done yet~.
I knew the price was way too much and im not that naive to get whatever service the dealership throws on me.
I just wanted to know what everyone else thought about it. To be honest though i was tempted to have it done , just because i love my car soo damn much. I want to pamper my lady with everything i can throw on her.

as with the injector clean, is it necessary to clean my injectors at less than 30k?

ohh and they justified the high price of $215 by saying they use the right stuff. they also said that they've seen many people come in with problems getting their vehicle serviced at private shops.
ANyways the place that offered me this was RICK HENDRICK CHEVROLET. also the place i bought my car.

But hey im happy i got my car for a good deal

I've seen trucks run for 200,000+ miles and never touched the trans. I have also seen them run for 30,000 miles then change the fluid and start having problems. I have never been one to touch the trans. unless I have to. Just check your fluid, if it doesn't look or smell burned up then it is fine. You have to approach engine oil and trans. fluid completely different. You don't want to change it just to change it IMO

Oh I thought you got it done already!:emotions122:
But an injector service will most likely not even be needed if you run the normal injector cleaners and good gas. Tell them to miss you with that "private shop" stuff, they are just saying that to try and lure you. Just like they have heard of private shops and problems, I have heard of numerous complaints about actual dealership services and complaints.:Handshake:
