I have a 21 suburban premier has the factory roofs rails that are chrome. Picked up a set of GM cross rails on marketplace they are black. Thinking of wrapping my rails in vinyl to match cross bars. Instead of replacing them with black roof rails. Has anyone wrapped theirs? Did it affect how the cross bars fit?

My 21 had the rails wrapped on it. And they lasted a pretty good long time. It's a pretty inexpensive way to solve the problem if you can get somebody locally to do it for you. If you're constantly using the rails and loading things up there back and forth, it would be better to have them removed and painted. But if you're just using them occasionally, wrapping them is a better way to do it.

I haven't done that, but I had the roof rack on my '95 powder-coated black. It came out great.

Would you leave all of the rest of the chrome on the truck chrome? If so, I personally think there are enough other black trim pieces on the truck to offset (or compliment) the black cross bars -- and so I wouldn't black out [only] the roof rails.
