2024 Tahoe 5.3 Small ticking noise at cold start

Anyone know what this small ticking noise is on cold starts on my 2024 tahoe 5.3? Is this a common noise on the engine on these trucks?

Yes very common, my 2019 Silverado did it on cold starts, my 2025 Silverado does it and our 2022 Tahoe does it. It goes away after it warms up. If it's a lifter noise it will still be there when you raise the RPMs but it goes away when the RPMs come up

Ok yea noise goes away once it’s warmed up only happens on cold starts when cars been sitting for a few hours.

Did you ever get the sound diagnosed and if so what did the dealership say it is?

Update: Took it in to the dealership, they checked for any issues and codes and confirmed this is normal expected behavior and just monitor it especially if the noise comes even after the vehicle has been warmed up or while driving.

It's lifter bleed-down (in most cases) and you only hear it after the engine's been off for a while...
Has anyone tried high quality oil filter with a good quality anti-bleed-down? Is this problem worse with the "normal cheap" oil filters?

If it's lifter bleed down a guy could try a quick rev to 1500rpm immediately before shutting it off. It works for hemis. My truck (16 ram 6.4) sits a lot sometimes 2 weeks at a time. I do the quick rev every time before I shut it off and it's always silent whenever I fire it back up whether it's 2 days or 2 weeks.

Or I'm not sure if gm has it but Rams do it's a "clear flood mode". Before you start the truck hold the gas pedal to the floor and try starting it. It won't start but will turn the motor over and build oil pressure to pump up the lifters. Do that for 5 seconds or so and then start it normally and see if the noise is still there. Again I'm not sure if gm's are the same but it works on Rams.

I don't think it is lifter bleed down. I've put a stethoscope right on the cylinder head in multiple spots, the valve cover, and the front edge of the intake galley. There is no noise at all from the engine. Noisiest thing on the engine is the high pressure fuel pump. Under a stethoscope, by comparison to the cylinder head and intake gallery, there is 100x more noise and volume.

The loudest noise I heard that matched the rhythm and quality of sound came from the catalytic converters.
