I was wondering the same if there's been an update, and if there is, how we're supposed to find out? When our Tahoe gets towed in and they say "oh yes there's a bulletin for this here is a software update"...
My dealer seems to think the fix for this may come via an OTA update -- but even then your question is a good one -- how would be know? Is there anything in the vehicle settings to view an update and what it did? Havent seen anything like that. I would guess if the fix comes via OTA update then the dealers will find out about it after we do lol.

Duramax? There should be a software fix for long crank
No. 5.3v8. Moved down this year with the crazy asks for the Denali, and it’s an extra vehicle for us. Constant crank until you hit the key off again. Since then it appears to start fine. Calling the dealer in a bit.

This happened to my '22 yukon denali as well. Parked at a friend's house for a few hours, came out and remote started it.. then got in the car and pushed the button and it went dead. After that, tried to start it several times and it wouldn't crank. I thought I left something on and the battery was dead.. but the lights and screen etc were all ok at the time. Tried to push the button several more times and it wouldn't start. Got a ride home and the next morning I came back with a multimeter. Interestingly, the battery had low voltage. Not sure if it was from all the time we tried starting it. Connected a battery charger to it and went inside for like 15 minutes. Came out and it started up. Totally thought it was a battery issue.. but I guess not. Car has been fine since then (a month ago) and I did remote start it a few times too. Probably won't be remote starting it away from home until a fix comes out.

so.... a potential home fix then should be to disconnect & reconnect the battery, that would essentially "clear" the computer for the most part.
maybe the next time this happens or pops up on the thread someone can give it a try.
keep that in your suggestion box for now until we discover otherwise.
Im so glad I found this thread yesterday because this worked! Remote started and when I entered the car mid cycle maybe 8 minutes in I pushed the ignition and engine turned off. Wouldn’t start again but all electrical systems worked. Engine light was on. Jumping the battery did not work. But disconnecting the battery, (I think we only disconnected the negative cable and reconnected it) worked and the engine started again. It did take wrenches (I think 10 mm was the size that fit) to disconnect cables so I will probably keep those in the car with me from now on. I was stranded with 3 kids at my work parking lot so it was wonderful not to need a tow especially considering you couldn’t get in neutral and the body shops weren’t open til after the weekend. Bravo for this idea.

glad it worked for you and lucky you had a wrench on hand and yes only the negative would need to be disconnected

I take it this issue is not fixed yet? Since it's most likely a software issue, you would think the fix should be quicker for this.

Edit***reportedly doing this has worked for 1 person so far
Same thing happened to us tonite. 2022 GMC Yukon XL SLT, Waited a hour for GMC roadside assistance to arrive with a jump pack. Didn’t initially fix the issue, ended up disconnecting the battery waiting A couple minutes reconnecting the cables and the jump pack and the truck started. Will be contacting the dealership in the morning.

I have a 21 Denali and regularly use the auto start from the GM app and also from the remote. I have never(fingers crossed) had an issue with it not starting. I have had lots of errors from the app refusing to start the vehicle, but it always starts on command. It must be another series of events that is leading to a non start.

BTW, if that happens on the app, log out and back in. That is the fix.

This issue only affects ‘22s. As of last Monday my dealer says still no solution from GM. The dealer bulletin on this issue was dated early December so that tells you a software fix for this is either low priority (maybe this is a really low occurance) or the fix is more complicated than an OTA software update.

it's a software bugg, things like this are going to crop up more and more going forward with GM's new android overlay that they started using this year, they would have been better off sticking with linux. Most of the time the temporary "fix" is going to be disconnecting the battery, it's just like hard resetting your phone or watch or tablet or anything else with glitchy software.

This has to have to do with the 22 Google platform. Never had a remote start issue on the 21 no matter how we actuate it…

I was just wondering the same thing myself...would love to know if the fix exists yet.
Had mine serviced yesterday and dealer said GM is still working on it - although I question whether they checked. I haven’t used remote start since the original occurrence so don’t know if it would continue to happen or if it’s pretty rare.

I do believe I’d be quite upset with gm if I couldn’t use remote start on a brand new rig because of some bad software
