Hi I bought this 2020 GMC Yukon SLT 4 years ago from one of the biggest rental car companies in America but I was given an aftermarket key with no cut out key I want to get a spare fob but how would I program it because I believe you need the cut key to activate the programing setting.

the OBD 2 scanners, tec 2 (i think the other name for it), also can program key fobs.
or you could go to dealership and have them cut/program the spare.

Take the truck and 1 key to your local lock smith. They can do the programming and sell you a fob as well.

look in your owners Manual, is it push to start? Even if go on e-bay you will find a guy who sells fobs and cuts laser cut keys with a photo of your key for 20 bucks for the cut and what ever the fob costs, I have a 2016 GM and a 2024 GM both Manuals describe how to program fobs and I have done it

that would work if I had a key with the laser cut but it never came with one
dealer can cut the blank key, just take proof of ownership with you to the parts department, they look up the key code (gm backend) and enter it into the key cutter machine they have behind the counter, cut the blank and you are good to go.
just note as I already stated in order to "add" a key you need 2 working keys already otherwise you are at the mercy of a locksmith or dealer. locksmith is going to be cheaper than the dealer unless you are on good terms with them, mine charged me $35 but i'm special.....
fob's and key's are 2 different things and 2 different processes.
push to start "key's" I don't think have a chip. dealer can still cut the blank in any case.
