2019 Yukon SLT LED "Warning" in Owners Manuel

Need some expert advice! We took ownership of our new 2019 Yukon SLT last week. Disappointed that even at $62K we didn't get HID's out of the box but this is not a complaining thread.

I've been researching HID conversion kits and of course the LED option is really easy (and around the same cost). I get it's a split jury out there as to pros and cons but I want to understand why my owners Manuel specifically tells me to NOT install LED lights as it could harm my electrical system.

I bought a 6yr 90K mile warranty so I don't want to mess myself up BUT these halogens are ridiculous and have to go.

Thoughts?

i changed my fog lights and reverse lights with led and have not had a problem but my head lights are factory HID 2016 yukon

Lasfit from Amazon. They are unavailable now, I’m not sure what that means. They were $32 and $54 so as long as they come on. I’m good.

i wouldn't worry about that warning while it is entirely possible that a LED could damage something it's pretty unlikely considering hundreds of thousands of people have converted and you never hear about anything detrimental happening, occasionally someone may put bulbs in that get to hot and melt a socket or something but usually that is just bad judgement, like putting HID's in a small plastic fog housing or something of that nature you may also hear/read about little quirks like hyperflash or plugging them in backwards and not working, generally led's have a positive and a negative versus a regular incandescent which does not so if they do not light flip them around and try the other direction instead.

I also want to add LEDs to my 17 yukon and was a little hesistant. On my wifes previous 2011 subaru outback we had an issue where all of a sudden the check engine light, traction control, cruise and another light would come and flash. Didn't really notice driving issues but the cruise wouldnt work. I could disconnect the battery and it would be fine for awhile and then it would do it again. After searching online I found some threads on a subaru outback forum that pointed to LED bulbs. I changed them all back and never had a problem again. So apparently with some cars sensitive electronics, the lower amperage draw might affect it. Glad to know there are no issues with these vehicles.

I went ahead and went for it. Using the ddm h11’s the higher end $100 ones. They look great, here’s to hoping the perform ongoing and don’t cause issue

I'm installing mine this weekend on my '19 Tahoe LT. I went with Opt-7 headlights and fog lamps. I've been running these in my '15 Sierra for a few years without problem.

I never reported back. The DDM's are performing great. I need to pick up a set for the terrible brown fogs now!

I have a late 17 MY SLT and changed all to LED, no issues. I have my windshield completely tinted as well, so driving under bridges or away from the sun by 5pm the headlights come on and off constantly due to the low light hitting the sensor on the dash, I think if I had HID instead of the LED the Ballasts would probably burn out due to the constant on/off, but the LED I think is more forgiving.

Had to believe there is not HID's in all these trucks, and after 6 years with LED's the HID's just don't cut it, but we are fixing that issue.
