I worked on this last night for a problem of engine temp gauge stuck at 160 degrees and radiator fans were very loud and would not shut off till pull 40 amp fuse. New thermostat and CTS fixed that problem but I noticed this noise. Is this normal?

This was at a cold start and let idle and a/c turned on. Seemed that the fans cycled with the a/c compressor.

Not even close to normal. Replace.
I think that the amount of time that the fan motors were on "super speed" with the thermostat and CTS being bad, caused them to be over worked and damaged bearings. But, have never heard my 05 Tahoe do that and just did not sound right.

I did reach out to @915_Tahoe for parts help but did locate them all myself. Genuine GM available at RA. They are a left and right motor and come with blade attached. I have an account at my local Chevy dealer and are still around $588 each. They are $300 cheaper each at RA. I texted my landlord and waiting to hear back.

Yea, it turns out that GM only sells with the blades attached. Don't want to mess with the balance by doing a swap. There are a few aftermarket companies that sell the whole thing, shroud and motors/blades assembly. I am going to get the separate shroud and the 2 motors/blades. He does not want to take a chance of shroud damage during removal and swap.

Ordered the Genuine GM 2 new fan motors with the blades attached and the new Genuine GM shroud, with $31.18 discount and $59.98 shipping, the grand total comes in at $652.37. He will drive sparingly before he leaves for his trip to Maui soon. I will be doing the oil change and MAF cleaning and throttle body cleaning during that time, too.

Plus, whatever I find during my inspection.
