Soo started the install,
I have a good friend who is a mechanic and we are trying to do a as clean install as possible and figuring things out as we go along.
Figuring out where to place the ballast,canbus,capacitor and wiring.
Apparently the cable to the battery wasnt long enough to run from driver side to the battery so we extended it.
Anyways long story short ,after 2 hours we were pretty much done %80.driver side is done,wiring is done. We were late for dinner so we took off to finish the passenger side tomorrow.
Here is a video of one side hid and the other side stock halogen and its a big difference. Ballast seem to fire up good and everything looks good so far. Will keep the post updated.

Definitely a big difference between the two. Will be curious to hear how they work out long term as I'd love to do this to my Tahoe as well.

ok here is the update !!!

good news everything is installed and no problems what so ever.
everything works like they are supposed to be working.

We used the xenondepot extreme kit with canbus and philips 4.3k bulbs. kit also comes with capacitors which i believe is a must for LT models because the DRLs are the low beam headlights and you dont want low voltage to mess your stuff up .

As for the installation :

Well everything is plug and play ?? Nope. well kinda.the only things that are plug and play are the headlight bulb connections pretty much the rest is a lot of figuring stuff out.

The dust covers had to be drilled to make holes in them so the stuff could pass through and sealed back with the plastic adapter that came with the kit.

no great places to install the canbus,capacitors and ballasts.
good luck figuring that out.
we used some zip ties, velcro to stabilize some stuff.
positive cable was short, we had to extend it.

I would say its a good 3 hour job if one wants to do it good.
I would highly recommend to plan ahead as to what goes where and go step by step.
we did the driver side first.

i will add some pictures in a little bit to give you some insight shortly.

Install pics

this is the driver side, attached the ballast to the side with velcro.
The canbus and the relay went together on a lug on to a hole together their backs attached to eachother.

Ran the cable to the battery under the back of the hood where there is a cable running alongside.

went around the corner to the battery

cut a little spot to accomodate the wires going in to the terminal

driver side, what it looks like after install.we ziptied the black box coming from the bulb to the a metal post on side of the headlight.

Passenger side
this is the top view of the tray under the airbox.
the only place we found good enough to put the the capacitor n relay was right under the tray.

we kinda fabricated a little holder for the capacitor n relay attached together backs touching eachother to that fabricated attachment and used a lug hole already there.

Yep, that's exactly where I installed my passenger side ballast. That's the only place it fits nicely.

Drove tonight for 3 hours without a problem so far.
! thing that bothered me was that it feels as if the headlights are pointing up just a tad.
I'm hoping they can adjust them at the dealership

update: dealer checked and said the headlights are at the correct adjustment.
i think the lenses focus the light towards the middle in the halogen headlights whereas in the hid headlights the lenses evenout the light output.i read this after some google searches for h11 hid cutoff lines

I just did the retrofit source hid kit on my 2015 yukon. i used the hd kit for 2014 sierra with capacitor link and it works great. When i installed it i just extended the battery cables with some 8 guage wire i had laying around and flip flopped the system layout so that all the connections and bulk of the wiring/capacitor is on the drivers side where theres more room to work. Trying to fit the capacitor and relay in the area of the air box looked like a nightmare to me. So far no problems to report, no flickering as others have mentioned. I did modify some of the connectors to fit properly. Some connectors can actually be upside down and still appear attatched but will actually be quite loose. I can see someone not noticing that and creating a mess of problems. My only complaint is I did the 35w 5500k combo. Im not happy with the color match to the DRL led so i ordered 4500k bulbs to try out and see if they match up a little better.

i havent had a single problem since i installed mine.
just did a night drive from san francisco to santa barbara 5 hours straight no problems whatsoever.

4500k was worse and really yellow. Sticking with the 5500k bulbs as i know i wont be fond of too blue of a hue. I think the DRL are closer to 6000k maybe even 6500k

Maybe a dumb question, but here goes....

Does the box that holds the air filter just pop out? I'm simply trying to replace the passenger bulb and cannot get my hand in there. It's a 2015 Tahoe.

I LOL when I read this. Great pics. I had this kit in my Sienna with halogen projector, then had to trade for 8 passenger Yukon SLE, which I converted to 9 passenger. Wish I had taken out my HIDs when I traded the van.
