I have to disconnect my negative and reconnect it everytime just to start my Yukon. When I open the driver door there are no lights on the dash and no odometer readings. When I press the start button the lights come on but the car doesn’t turn over, doesn’t even try. As soon as I disconnect and reconnect the battery it starts right up no hesitation. I took my truck to AutoZone to test the battery and it’s good. Starter sounds fine when it cranks over, no hesitation. After I reconnect the battery the odometer is visible “this is how I know the Yukon will turn on” and the light come on the dash.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

Pics of the truck, please.

That's a good one. You gotta admit, that's a pretty cool anti-theft system that you've got there.

As suggested above, put an Ohm meter on your battery cables, and confirm that you have near zero resistance.

Also check the resistance from your battery's negative terminal to the engine block.

Perhaps, there is a relay that gets stuck, and resets itself when you disconnect the battery terminal, though I don't know specifically what the relay would be.

@OR VietVet or @Doubeleive may have some suggestions.

in the electronics world we call that a cold start issue, where all of the electricity does not shut-off or something prevents it from fully shutting off, until a full power disconnect is performed. Then it works like normal until it is turned off again.
There could be a body code saved or a error that a scanner might detect when the no start issue happens. but it will take a dealer lever scanner to check.

Battery cable might be bad internally if it looks healthy on the outside.
Do you think the negative or the positive because there are also different cables coming off of the battery going into the rest of the car?
