Hey everyone,

Having an issue with my 2013 Chevy Tahoe's turn signal stalk. The "flash-to-pass" function (pulling the stalk back) Isn't working. Pushing it forward to turn the high beams on works and everything else works normally.

It's probably time for a new stalk but you can check the wiring first. Testing and checking for internal codes with a bi-directional scan tool would be best way to get started if you have access to one.

Our 2013 LTZ w/139K miles has the exact same issue. Started out being an intermittent problem, then just stopped working all together.

Looked into procedure to replace the stalk ass'y and seeing as you need to pull the airbag out, going to leave it be (see below link).
It's not a mechanical action switch, but rather a Hall Effect switch within the stalk ass'y. Essentially a magnetic proximity switch.
You'd think they'd last forever w/no contacts to wear-out, but the sensors appear to lose their sensitivity over time
(kind of like many of us!).

In case you're curious how a Hall Effect switch works:

You don't need to pull the wheel to change out the stock. If you use a 1/4" drive bit that fits the screw with a 1/4" open end wrench you can just barely sneak behind the steering wheel. The hardest part of the whole job is getting the plastic covers off the column without damaging them and getting them lined back up with the rubber boot for the shifter when it goes back together.

Also, make sure you use an OEM switch and not some aftermarket one. They don't last and you will be doing the job over again within a few months.
