Hello everyone! Im new here so please i apologize ahead if i posted this on the wrong section and/or if this question has already been answered but honestly i haven’t found an answer to it yet. I have a 2010 Tahoe LT with a 5.3 engine that appears to had been a PPV vehicle. My high beams aren’t working, fuses have power with the fuse meter when i pull the stalk and i even hear the relay clicking but lights are no good. Bulbs are good but there’s no power at the connectors which all points to the built in fuse box high beam relay being the problem and the only fix is to replace the whole thing. I honestly don’t feel comfortable enough to do this myself but i’ve done relay harnesses in the past for light bars and such. So my question is the following, can i just run a relay wiring harness directly into the high beams and have one of the high beam fuse (10A) as the trigger so it still comes on with the stalk? Or will it be too much overload? Thanks in advance to any responses.

I would look for cut wiring, when or if they removed the wig-wag they probably just left the wires cut.
if you do not know what a wig-wag is that is a device that makes the headlights flash on/off left&right back-n-forth.

Not uncommon. The contacts in the stalk can go bad. My 09 Esky is finicky on flash to pass (pulling) but running high beams pushing the stalk always works.

Thanks for mentioning it may have been a PPV. There may be leftover police components that are
holding back the circuit.

You can unbolt the fuse block base and clean the underside and contacts. You’ll also be verifying it’s torqued down enough.

If you have a police or highway patrol station nearby I’d suggest wandering around the back of the building toward the service bays with two boxes of doughnuts around 9am.

Ask the guy in the dirtiest overalls if he might know what it may be on your PPV while opening the top box of doughnuts. Keep one box with you til he agrees to look at it:chewie:

Thank you both for the suggestions! Yes there wiring that are cut that are coming from the bottom corner on the passenger side, thru the cover of the blower motor, runs behind the radio which i checked there and no connections there, and it ends up under my steering wheel. I have a 2008 GMC Yukon same engine and rwd as my 2010 tahoe that i am using also as referrence and i found this which my yukon DOESNT HAVE.

Could that be the culprit??

From looking up the part number, that is an LED flasher. You will have to trace the wiring and see if that is in the high beam circuit and interrupting it.

I would remove any extraneous components and wiring no matter what.

Cool thanks! Yeah i will trace those cables and see where they end up at. Also planning on taking all that wiring out too since it's useless and just a mess.

Ooh, be careful about undoing things that sow seeds for other PPV components rely on. Until you understand the PPV upfitter component compatibility, leave it.

Slick thinking on referencing the civilian vehicle.

My PPV brights don't work in the "flash" function when you pull back on the stalk. They do work when I push the stalk forward to turn the high beams on. Is that what you're experiencing, OP?

No, i get no brights either way, pull nor push. When i push the stalk, the highbeam indicator comes on, the fuses go live (tested with a fuse detector light) and i can even hear the relay on the fuse block clicking but no lights. Bulbs are good. I plan on getting new projector style headlights with built in LEDs bulbs which have both low beam and high beam separate like the stock ones do which is why if i can’t find the problem i was going to use a relay harness and use the highbeam fuses as the relay trigger but was worried if it could be too much for the 10A fuse.

Thanks for the advice! I decided to leave the harnesses alone since nothing seems to be powering them because the battery has the same cables connected to it as my 2008 yukon does. As far as i can tell, all PPV equipment has been removed from my vehicle, i can see holes where some stuff might of been mounted and whatnot but no switches, triggers or anything left on it. It is as clean as a regular civilian vehicle except for THAT i posted a picture of.

Someone who is a career maint / fleet service employee on PPV / SSV will pretty much say something like …. Oh yea, somebody probably pulled the thingamabobber and didn’t add a jumper wire on the hoochamathingy.

Could just be bad bulbs.. I know this sounds too simple.
I upgraded my Yuk bulbs after I bought it.. Less than a year
later I had ZERO high beams.. WTF.. Chased electricity all over...
Dim's were just fine...
Finally PIA pulled my headlight assemblies out and the highs were burnt out.
WTF prob had less than an hour on the highs.. Dims were normal though.
So I put in LED's and they have lasted for 3+ years

***UPDATE***

Ok guys, i finally found the culprit! It was this little sucker right by the passenger side fog light behind the wheel cover!
IMG_1352.jpeg

Funny thing is, i found it by accident . Yesterday i took the driver headlight out to see if there was anything i might of missed by tracing the harness again and today when i was doing the passenger side, i had the headlights turned on with the high beams as well, i grabbed that connector and unplugged it and then back on again (what could happen!) and voilá! I saw there was a quick flash on the wall! Seems like the connectors were dirty and they weren’t making proper contact so i cleaned them and all good now! Still, huge thanks for the suggestions you guys gave and taking your time to help me!
