2012 Yukon doesn’t shift at a stop

Have a 2012 Yukon that son drives to college, he mentioned that while at a red light the Yukon has not gone into gear to accelerate. Has to turn off the Yukon and restart and put in drive to get it to drive. This has only happened twice and I’ve driven the Yukon quite a bit and it drove fine and hasn’t done it while I’ve driven it. Wanted to check if anyone else has had this issue or any ideas what it could be. Help/ input much appreciated.

How is the transmission fluid level and condition?

Transmission was serviced about 4 months ago and level is fine. Thanks

could be a failing solenoid
